Our Leadership Development Story

Beyond Invisible Barriers: A Leadership Development Coach's Journey

Empower2Evolve is a leadership development coaching firm dedicated to resolving the “invisible barriers” that quietly hold leaders and organizations back. Based in Denver, we work with leaders and organizations across the country.

Resolving Invisible Barriers

These subtle yet powerful challenges — rooted in interpersonal dynamics, communication breakdowns, leadership approaches, and organizational culture — may not be immediately obvious. However, their impact is undeniably real. They drain energy, erode trust, and stall results.

A Leadership Development Coach's Journey

Our founders recognized these recurring patterns throughout their careers. Driven by authentic curiosity, they embarked on a mission to understand why these barriers persisted. Rather than relying solely on theory, they chose a different path: working shoulder-to-shoulder with leaders, managers, and individual contributors actually living these struggles.

What emerged from that collaborative journey is a concrete set of tools, techniques, and methodologies — proven in real-world environments. Today, we deploy these through our leadership development coaching programs. We partner with clients to evaluate, address, and eliminate invisible barriers, so they can transform ineffective dynamics and realize the full potential of their teams.

Meet Our Leadership Development Coaches

Ann Mosso leadership development coach Denver

Ann Mosso

Ann Mosso is a collaborative and conscious leadership development coach who partners with clients to uncover the invisible barriers quietly impeding organizational success and personal fulfillment. She brings authentic curiosity and a keen ability to facilitate alignment across diverse perspectives. As a result, Ann guides leaders and teams to resolve deep-seated conflicts, break down hidden barriers, and foster unwavering trust.

Her passion lies in empowering individuals and organizations to evolve and thrive. She identifies underlying issues, builds tailored strategies rooted in mindset shifts and psychological safety, and implements solutions that lead to sustainable growth. As a trusted advisor, Ann combines sharp analytical skills with an empathetic approach. She fosters open communication and creates the safe space necessary for teams to unlock their full potential — and achieve impact previously thought out of reach.

A Different Kind of Leadership Development Coach

Most leadership development programs teach you what good leadership looks like. Ann’s work goes deeper. Instead of focusing on surface behaviors, she works on the root cause — why smart, capable, well-intentioned leaders still find themselves reacting when they mean to respond. Why they manage when they mean to empower; and why they survive when they want to thrive.

The answer, in her experience, is almost never a skills gap. It’s a mindset gap. Furthermore, it’s rooted in patterns that were often set long before the leader ever stepped into their first management role. As a result, Ann’s coaching and leadership development programs address that root cause directly — not just the symptoms showing up in 360 feedback or team dynamics.

The Frameworks Behind the Work

Ann holds certification as a 3 Vital Questions® Practitioner — a framework developed by the Bainbridge Leadership Center and now held by Seven Generations Leadership, Inc. This gives leaders a practical, repeatable tool for shifting from reactive to creative leadership in real time. She also holds certification as a TED* Coach, trained in The Empowerment Dynamic — the conscious leadership model that underpins the 3VQ® work.

As a certified Leadership Circle Profile practitioner, Ann uses this powerful 360-degree assessment differently than most. Rather than treating it as a performance tool, she uses it to give leaders measurable, specific data on where reactive tendencies are costing them. From there, she builds a clear map toward the creative leadership competencies that drive lasting influence.

These aren’t off-the-shelf tools. Ann built an original curriculum — Evolve2LEAD — that integrates these frameworks with neuroscience, psychological safety research, and the practical realities of leading people in complex organizations. Moreover, it delivers the kind of executive-level leadership development that was once reserved exclusively for the C-Suite, now accessible to leaders at every level.

Where She Came From

Ann began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, earning a promotion to Senior Manager and working in both the Denver and London offices. She then spent a decade in management advisory and client service, followed by additional years in private industry focused on process re-engineering and merger integration. Ann holds an MBA from the University of Colorado Executive Program and spent over 30 years as a licensed CPA.

That business background is not incidental to her coaching work — it’s central to it. Ann knows firsthand what it feels like to lead inside systems that reward reactive patterns. She has felt the pull of the Drama Triangle in a high-pressure client meeting. Ann does the ongoing work of choosing a conscious response when everything in the environment pushes for a reactive one. Because of that lived experience, her clients trust that she’s not speaking from theory.

Beyond the Work

Ann previously volunteered as a Financial Coach for Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute. She also served as Board Chair of Child Advocates – Denver CASA for seven years, driving change around best practices and encouraging innovative thinking. Additionally, she served as a Community Mentor in the Think Like a Genius Challenge for Colorado Young Leaders. She co-founded Empower2Evolve alongside her husband Scott Richardson, a Division Chief of Special Operations and 30-year veteran of South Metro Fire Rescue.

Scott Richardson has spent more than 40 years in the fire service — starting as a volunteer firefighter at age 16 — and brings that depth of first responder leadership experience to every aspect of his work at Empower2Evolve. He is a Division Chief of Special Operations at South Metro Fire Rescue, a published author, a Firehouse Magazine contributor, and the co-founder of Empower2Evolve alongside his wife Ann Mosso.

Scott’s leadership philosophy is simple and unwavering: he works for his people. Not the other way around. After decades of leading teams through high-stakes, complex, and life-or-death environments — including deployment with FEMA USAR Colorado Task Force 1 and service as a combat medic in Desert Storm — Scott understands at a level most leaders never will what it actually costs people to show up and do hard things, day after day.

His mission through Empower2Evolve is to give fire, EMS, emergency communications, and law enforcement professionals — and the business leaders who share their challenges — the leadership tools they were never taught.

The Fire Service Didn’t Just Shape His Career. It Saved His Life.

Scott joined the fire service as a volunteer at 16. He’ll tell you, if you ask directly, that it saved his life. It gave him structure, purpose, and a community of people who held him to something bigger than himself. Everything he became as a leader traces back to that entry point.

What followed was a career spanning combat zones, collapsed structures, and the leadership development work he does today. As a combat medic in Desert Storm, Scott encountered experiences that change how you see the world and the people you’re responsible for. That perspective never left him. It shows up in how he leads, how he develops others, and how seriously he takes the duty of care every leader owes their team.

Servant Leadership in High-Stakes Environments

Scott serves as Division Chief of Special Operations at South Metro Fire Rescue, where he has worked for 30 years. He oversees special operations teams and holds certification as a 3 Vital Questions® Trainer and recognition as a Colorado Governor’s Fellow. Scott earned a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in organizational management, an associate’s degree in public safety, and the Chief Fire Officer designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence. He also holds certification as a Colorado state Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor, EMS Primary Instructor, and paramedic.

His leadership approach on the job reflects everything he teaches. He works out of a corporate office most days. However, when a special operations call comes in, he goes — and when he arrives, he finds the Incident Commander and asks: “How can I help?” You might find him rolling hose or coordinating logistics so the crew can focus on the work. That’s what servant leadership actually looks like in practice.

Scott also published Technical Rescue: Trench Levels I and II through Cengage Learning and contributes regularly to Firehouse Magazine. His most recent piece, “The Incident Command Team: Strategic Infrastructure for Technical Rescue Success,” appeared in March 2026.

Why He Co-Founded Empower2Evolve

Scott spent 30 years watching talented officers earn promotions into command positions. Yet nobody ever asked them the questions that matter most. Who are you when everything is falling apart? How do you lead people through the hardest moments of their professional lives when you haven’t yet reckoned with your own reactive patterns? How do you build a team that trusts you enough to tell you the truth?

Those questions don’t have easy answers. Moreover, most leadership training in emergency services never asks them. That gap is exactly why Empower2Evolve exists. Scott brings the Under Pressure perspective — practical, no-nonsense leadership development grounded in what it actually takes to lead people through high-stakes environments. He delivers it with the insider credibility of someone who has been doing it for four decades.

He also brings something rarer. Scott has seen enough to know what matters. Furthermore, he cares enough about his people to make sure they have what they need to succeed — whether that’s shoring equipment, the right training, or someone who notices when something is quietly wrong.
